About Us
Our dogs are part of our family and live with us in our home. Because we believe that every dog needs an abundance of love, affection, training and grooming, however, we do limit our numbers in order to meet the standards of care and attention we have set for ourselves. Therefore, we do also have several dogs in Foster Families, where they can be spoiled by their own loving family but return to us as required for mating purposes.
Our puppies are raised in our laundry room, just off the kitchen, in the hub of all the action. They are underfoot for the first 4 to 6 weeks of life. This way our puppies are exposed to the sights and sounds of everyday life and are handled and socialized several times a day from birth. They graduate to spending an abundance of time in an outdoor yard, weather permitting, at 4-6 weeks of age, depending on the season. It is very important to us that our puppies experience the sights and sounds of the outdoors as well as the indoors. The opportunity to run and play freely outside helps with muscle and bone development as well as cognitive development and pack socialization with their mama, siblings and the other furry residents of the household. Puppy raising could be said to be a joint effort between their Mama, the other ladies and gentlemen of the household as well as the Syquefine Support Squad (otherwise known as family and friends).
We are set on 95 acres of fields, forests and ponds and all of our puppies benefit from walks and romps on the property as they become old enough to do so. These walks are off leash and often include all of the adults of our pack, and sometimes include visits to the horses as well. These excursions reinforce the command training we do from puppyhood to ensure that in spite of all of the distractions along the way, the pack is expected to follow their leader – Me! Of course their attachment to myself, their primary caregiver, is reinforced daily with loads of hugs and play time and each baby is tucked in at night with a snuggle and individual playtime.
